Kirby Lane Park is nestled among the rowhomes on the hilltop at the Northwest corner of Franklin Square Community in Baltimore, Maryland. The park stands as a proud testament to community collaboration and rejuvenation. In 2017 local residents came together to develop the park in partnership with Bon Secours Community Works and the Celebration Church at Monroe Street. This green haven emerged from the transformation of vacant homes and lots on West Saratoga Street. It is often used by the community as a peaceful retreat for meditation and reflection amidst the urban hustle.
A safe space fostering active play, imagination, and joyous moments of fun. With Help from Nature Sacred, the Baltimore City Police Department, Franklin Square Community partners, and countless others, the Children's Playground was built from the ground up as a community endeavor to make a safe and healthy space for children to play.
Charcoal grills, tables and benches provide outdoor dining in a quiet, shaded setting.Â
The horseshoe pits add life and a valuable past time for anyone looking to relax. Paired with picnic tables and a place to grill, the space invites neighbors young and old to hang out.
An elevated platform near the picnic area available for year round entertainment and events. Our Joyful Noise Baltimore has graced the stage on multiple occasions. The stage has been host to interpretive dance, short plays, skits, and even gospel preaching.Â
Beyond its physical amenities, Kirby Lane Park transcends mere recreation. It’s a place where families bond, children thrive, and adults find solace. Amidst quiet shade, tables await your picnic or outdoor event.
Â
The purpose of the park extends beyond play and entertainment; we aim to be an urban haven where adults navigate their hurts, habits, and hang-ups toward inner peace and healing. Community connections flourish in the park, as it is a welcoming, natural space in the urban core of Baltimore.
